Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This is our go to Mexican. The chili verde is great, but I've never been disappointed by anything I've tried here. If you like traditional Northern Mexican food, this is a place to try. We affectionately refer to it as "the triangle" because of the retro building, and they made some unfortunate additions to it, so it's not the most attractive or comfortable place. But they do carry out!

I ate here while passing through on vacation with some family. A fine Mexican place. The salsa was good, though there was clearly a hot and a mild that weren't labeled or distinguished in any way. It was just chance! Our server was friendly. I especially enjoyed the cactus that came with my carnitas. Otherwise, this was a pretty run-of-the-mill Midwestern Mexican restaurant.

Great service and friendly workers. The food here is solid and mostly authentic. They do have some legit/authentic Mexican entrée's, but much of the menu has a more Mexican-American flavor. It is generally good and the portions are sure to get your bowels going. If you want it more authentic, you will need to head to downtown KCK or the West Side.

Friendly staff, good prices, a unique menu. Try the Alambres Arandas - you'll get at least 2 tasty meals out of one dish!

One of my favorite Mexican joints. I hadn't been here in a while and I had called in an order. There stuff is always good. Chips and salsa are delcious. Alhambres are my faves! Excellent quality food in an old IHOP building. Right off of 78th and State Ave. Prices are decent. The Enchiladas Supremas are to die for and so are the Carnitas.

No frills, good food. Love to go for a quick lunch, but still great at dinner. It's not fancy, but they have a lot of choices and I've never been disappointed.

This is my first experience with this restaurant. I was greeted by a nice and helpful man. I explained what dish I was interested in (cravings for enchiladas), and he explained what options were available. My carryout order was received in less 15 mins on a slow Sat afternoon. The presentation was excellent and appetizing. I enjoyed the taste of the enchilada dishes. I even asked for substitution. I was given what I requested at no additional charge. Try this place, Kansas City, especially if you want Mexican food good and on the go..

This place is your average Mexican restaurant. Not awesome, but not bad either. Just ehhh.

My family affectionately calls this place "Mexican iHop." I love it! Maybe its a local thing, but I've been coming here for years and prefer it to most other places in the Metro. Their queso is delicious, runny goodness. They have nice margaritas and offer generous portions. Plus, there are Jarriotos in the fridge when you're needing a tasty, non-alcoholic fix. You can't go wrong with the cheese enchiladas!

It's an "Authentic Mexican" diner where the tacos are served with ground beef and the salsa apparently comes from the Pace Picante factory store. Conveniently situated next to the O'Reily Automotive store, one building over from Little Joe's Pawn Gun Shop and Liquor Store (really). It has desert landscape murals on the outside and a large steeped roof; used to be an IHOP. You can't miss it. I wish I had.

Prices are great and it's authentic Mexican. I just wish I knew the specials. The service was excellent, and will go again.

2 words Love It! Seriously they have been here forever and I'm thankful. Wait staff is always polite and the food is pretty good. Although their salsa is not my favorite. The bistek Mariposa is delicious.

Before your meal you get salsa and chips. The service is professional friendly and patient, and the food is delivered rapidly with a very good flavor. There is an authentic selection of Mexican sodas which we encourage you to try as they are very unique. We recommend you dine here as the food is very good surpassed only by the service. One word of warning, the salsa caliente is very hot. Proceed at your own risk. The regular salsa is quite good. They offer a selection of margaritas and beers.

Great place! I hit this place once a month to once a week. Wife loves this place as well. Over the years they have changed a few things such as chips or salsa recipe and we stopped going for a while. But they changed all back to original way and we been back for couple years. Nothing too fancy but fajitas and shrimp cocktail are high on my list. Service has always been good. Highly recommend!

If you look on my profile you could see that I am a pretty stingy reviewer. I LOVE this place. As soon as you are seated you are greeted with chips and salsa. For me the chips and salsa are basic. The cheese dip is the basic white cheese dip that most places have, pretty good. The food is what keeps us coming back. I always get the chicken verde enchiladas. Depending on the day the verde can be a little more tart or pack some heat, it depends. My honey normally gets the beef enchiladas or a chicken dish that I can't remember the name of. It's a thin chicken breast that is grilled and it's served over French fries. The chicken is seasoned to perfection. I am a stickler when it comes to service. There is usually one server for the whole restaurant but you would never know it. Your drink is always full and your chips are never empty. Can't say enough positive things about this place. It might not look like much from the outside but don't let that deter you. They recently remodeled the inside. They took out the old booths and brought in nice tables. Give them a try, I don't think you will be disappointed!

Taqueria Arandas isn't fancy. It's in a building previously know as an IHOP. I've been going there for at least five years, and we lovingly dubbed it The Mexican Pancake House. They of course do not make pancakes but Mexican goodness far more treasured than pancakes. There remains décor that pays homage to the pancake house. But that's part of the charm. The service is always good. Attentive, helpful with menu opinions, always welcoming and there is no delay in getting your food. If you are simply looking for a plate of tacos, I can't review that. I saw others with just tacos at their table, so perhaps they are yummy too. Their more authentic grub is the way to go. Like my most favorite bbq dives, Arandas' specialty, in my opinion, is pork. Try the carnitas. Carnitas plate or even the carnitas tacos. Whatever, put the pork on your plate. Tender and tasty with crispy bits. I am also a fan of the ceviche, but I was told on a Tuesday that they only have it on the weekend now. You can get the ceviche as an entree or just a taste on a tostada. Nommy. Another favorite is the Alambra entrée. I can't recall the exact name, but you can know it by this description. It's chopped steak, chicken and bacon on a sizzling plate served with tortillas. Get an appetizer, and that dish will feed three. No exaggeration. It is one of the tastiest Mexican entrees I have EVER had. The salsa is good too. It suits their food very nicely. It is nothing close to picante sauce from a jar, as another reviewer eludes. (That guy ordered tacos with ground beef, so what does he know?) If you like it hot, ask for the hot salsa and mix it in with the standard salsa. Some dishes are heavy on the cilantro without being noted as such on the menu. So if you have an aversion to lots of cilantro, as I do, ask for sin cilantro on anything you order. If you want tasty authentic Mexican food, visit the nice peoples at Taqueria Arandas. They will hook you up with an excellent meal.

Excellent mexican food, especially the cheese dip (queso). I've eaten there probably 10 times so far and will definitely be returning. The restaurant is clean and the servers are very attentative. The food is plentiful and the prices are very reasonable. One negative- I don't recommend the ground beef dishes- stick with pork, chicken or steak. Those are all delicious!

Excellent authentic fare, family business, we go a few times a month, we love it! Great family restaurant, great people!

You've gotta have me at hello and this place did not. Usually - for me, anyway - the first impression you get of a Mexican restaurant comes from the chips and salsa. While the chips were tasty, the salsa left a lot to be desired. It lacked *something*. I ordered bean dip and that was also very "blah". I had a craving for hard-shelled tacos and while my craving was satisfied, it could have been such a better experience somewhere else. Overall, the food wasn't bad. However, I wouldn't exactly call it good either. Plain, bland and unexciting sums up this experience.

Fajitas are really good. The chips are thin and hot. I really enjoyed the salsa it is blended and not chunky. The $9.99 fajitas came with a large pile of beef and chicken! We really enjoyed. Nice to find somewhere in Western Wyandotte that is not a chain.
